What Meal Plans do you offer?
We offer a variety of meal plans to meet your on campus dining needs. Check out our Meal Plan page
for a full list of offerings.
How does the MEAL portion of my Meal Plan work?
MEALS can be used in the Hewitt Dining Hall, for Kosher Dining at Hewitt and for a breakfast meal equivalency at the Diana Center Café. Simply swipe your student ID card and a meal will be deducted from your account. You can keep track of how many meals you’ve used by asking the cashier when they swipe your card.
PLEASE NOTE, MEALS will not carry over from week to week or semester to semester.
What are DINING DOLLARS (DDs) and how are they different from POINTS?
DDs are funds that can be used at Barnard or Columbia campus dining facilities. They also have a dollar for dollar value; 1-DD equals $1. They do not come with any Meal Plan option. You may purchase DDs through Dining at Barnard, located in Hewitt Hall, or through the Dining Customer Service Center, located in Hartley Room# 18 on the Columbia campus, in increments of $25.
PLEASE NOTE, DDs will carry over from year to year as long as you remain a student at Barnard or Columbia. They will not carry over at the end of your senior year.
How do POINTS work?
POINTS can be used at any Barnard Campus dining location. Use POINTS to purchase beverages, snacks or full meals paying the a la carte price. POINTS have a dollar for dollar value, so 1-POINT equals $1.
PLEASE NOTE, POINTS will carry over from the fall to spring semester provided you are on a Meal Plan in the spring. POINTS will not carry over from spring to fall at the end of the academic year.
What if I want to change my Meal Plan?
You have until the fourth day of each semester to change or cancel your meal plan. For the fall semester, the date is September 5, 2014 and for the spring it is January23, 2015. If your plan runs low or you think you may need additional funds for the remainder of the semester, you may always purchase a second plan. After your initial purchase, you are free to add any of our other Meal Plan choices.
How do I get into the dining locations once I have purchased my Meal Plan?
Within 24 hours, your Student ID card will be activated with your meal plan. Present your card to the cashier in the dining hall, and you are all set!
I am interested in a Kosher Meal Plan. What are my options?
You may select from any of our current Meal Plans and have the option to upgrade to a Kosher Plan. For a complete list of Meal Plan options, please click here
Can I treat a friend to a meal?
Absolutely! POINTS and DINING DOLLARs can be used to treat your friends and family.
What do I do if my Meal Plan POINTS run low?
If your POINTS run low, you have the option of purchasing a Points Only meal plan or any other meal plan of your choice.
